Working With Pain
I really enjoy working with clients who have pain issues. Pain very often changes rapidly and sessions provide great relief.
In the energetic realm pain shows up as discoloration or blockages in energy flows. There’s an acupuncture saying “Where there is free flow there is no pain and where there is pain there is no free flow.” That saying perfectly applies to energy healing.
Energy needs to flow, it is its nature to do so. So the overall concept in treating pain is to get things moving again.
Pain can arise from many different causes. Trauma is obviously one, something like a broken wrist or a sprained ankle. Those are generally relatively easy situations to resolve, especially if the trauma is recent. It’s not realistic to think that I will completely eliminate the pain of a broken bone or a bad sprain but I can usually reduce it at least 50%.
Older injuries that still cause pain can be more complex to work with. Often there is a strong emotional component with the injury and its after effects. The emotional component has to be dealt with as well as the physical issue. In these cases I locate where the pain is and then sense more deeply into the emotional space. Often there will be images showing how the injury occurred and the mood of the person when it occurred. There will be a flavor of emotion, it might be fear, it might be guilt, or even the sudden surprise of an assault. All of these factors are important in helping to release the emotions and once those are released the pain most often diminishes greatly.
Some injuries occur in lifetimes previous to this one and they can be quite puzzling for clients. I often get the question “Why does this hurt?” when there’s nothing wrong with the body in that area. The answer is that we carry energetic imprints from past lives until they are resolved. Those imprints come into our awareness when we have the capacity to heal them, which can be many lifetimes later.
Past life injuries are a little bit murkier than current life injuries but the principles are the same. Sense into the trauma, both physical and emotional, and release it. These are really satisfying moments for both myself and the client because the pain will almost instantly change and diminish.
